Civ aggression

yep, Yzman is exactly right. if you don't want the rep hit, this is how you do it. And i can tell you, i seem to be a lot more aggressive as the zulus. Funnily enough tho, i got a lower score in my zulu domination victory than in my persians space race victory (by like 1/2 the score). I'd heard people complaining about that being aggressive got rewarded too much. In my game, the first wiped out were the russians, then babylonia, then german if that helps at all. I think persia also seems to be peaceful. I could just look up in the editor but i really couldn't be bothered :D.

On a side note: with the MPPs many people have talked about having it fixed. I usually only MPP with a peaceful civ, so i don't get dragged into unwanted wars. I use an alliance unless MPP is cheaper to get others into a tightly matched war.

The info I got about moving units into their territory came from Gonzo who wrote a txt document called "Peaceful War." It said that after you get MPPs with everybody you "yell at them, suggest unfair trades, and even move units into their territory" and that if they attack you then they will be forced into peace.

Just a note.

yeh, but it doesn't mean you won't get a rep hit.

I'm not sure either. But the AI does it to me all the time. Especially the English. Many times the English will not get out unless the thing says "Remove your forces from my territory or declare WAR!"

When I have time I'll start a thread entitled "dumb diplomacy" where anybody can post dumb funny things the AI has said.

But the whole world declared war on Egypt that turn, so I guess that it didn't backfire or anything.

The thing that worried me the most is when I tried to say "That's it. Goodbye" the Military Advisor popped up with his "Let's destroy them, sir!" and the two options that said "You're right. They are scum!" and the "No. We should respect our neighbors."

If the Military Advisor pops up,
it is an absolutely clear sign,
that you are the Agressor (and get the Repo-Loss) ;)

Darn - then I should have just declared war to begin with instead of trying to push her (Cleo's) buttons. But it doesn't seem to affect my rep too much - is it because it is a destroyed civ? Seems to me it would be dumb to for an AI to say "I know what you did to the Egyptians!" when they have been destroyed.

Nope they will still say that. once i destroyed the Russians, and 200 years later people told me "I remember your treatment of Russia." Becuase I broke a Rop with them.

Well - that's another AI thing.

I remember once from changing from Despotism to Monarchy there was Civil Disorder everywhere. I zoomed into once city, clicked on the unhappy citizen, and it said: "33% We cannot forget the creulness you put on us." That "I remember your treatment of Russia" reminded me of that.

Duh, I know. But if they can't be happy then I'm not going to let it stand - I'll bore down cruelness on them if they can't be happy on me. They were handy for rushing projects.
