Civ Air/Naval - it'll never be the same!!

I know how. But I don't mod my games. It's up to Firaxis to create the ballance. If a player does it then it simply isn't Civ.

Rebasing 6X operational range maybe just right for huge maps, but maybe it should be 3X for standard maps.

And where did Firaxis get all these mod ideas? Some came from mods that players made.

Yes, but what he meant is that when Firaxis uses the ideas they are implemented in a balanced way, perfect for the game! Modders often dont think wide enough, even if they have good ideas.....

Philips beard

the fact that firaxis changed the game and implemented some ideas brought forth by modders shows that even the professionals don't get it right. In the end it all comes down to play testing.

I'd also like to know if stealth bombers have the same chance of being intercepted by A/A units, though it is possible to get around this

This is some awesome stuff here! Considering how much I can wreak havoc with just basic CIV3 carriers, I can only imagine how much fun I can have now :) I love air and naval combat, I am glad they focused on this for a change. :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

All these changes sounds very good.

One thing though: When playing on Earth-maps its
very hard to force AI to produce naval units in any
numbers.(See ozymandias thread on AI production).

Have this aspect been improved?

....yes, finally, we'll have decent sea battles.

Thank you, Conquests. :D

Hey, maybe now the F-15 will finally be a decent UU.

more useful than it was? no question. as useful/powerful as some uu's are? not even close. although the fatal attack is cool, you have to take into account the fact that every other uu in the game could kill other units except for the f-15, and althoug hit could, it was on rare occasiions.

These are great :goodjob:

My only wish past the listed changes, is that Helicopters could pick units up like the real ones can. (please give it some thought) But o well the rest of the changes will give the air/navy some extra zip. ;)

Edit:
Has there been any attempt to re-create the ability of ships to carry cruise missiles?

I am fairly sure that was said to be possible in one of the reviews... but I have read so many I could be mistaken.

i don't really know what is the use od Anti air guna and sam, can anyone explain it to me Please

They are there to shot down Airplanes. Defensive purpose I would presume.

They were added to provide balance towards the increased usefulness of the Air units.

From the original post:
• Helicopter – Op Range: 6, Capacity: 3, Defense: 2

Looks like carrying units to me.

I think he means pick them up from elsewhere then cities.

Yup thats what I meant alright.

Helicopters in game can drop units "into" the field but they can not do what they should and that is pick them up "from" the field.

As they are I find them almost pointless but if they could pick up units out side of cities as well as drop them off... then I tell you they would rock.
