Civ Color Change?

I have a question that I believe will be very easy:D for you guys to answer.

But I am clueless. Or, better said, afraid to make a mistake.

I want to simply change the default color of a Civ.

Let's say I want to change the Americans from Baby Blue to Navy Blue.

I am quite positive I do this in CIv Editor...

But How do I do it properly so that when I start a New Game in Civ III it will take effect.

It keeps asking me to save in Editor, but I think it's asking me to save the blank map that opens up.

Can you please help.

Thanks

GB:confused:

First, make sure only "Edit Rules" is selected (if you select Edit Map, then you're force to settle on an ocean planet. ;)).

It's under Rules-->edit rules.. go to civilizations, and at the bottom is the defualt color. If you only want America to be Navy Blue, make the defualt and secondary colors navy blue. Then go through the list and look for any other civs with navy blue (The Babylonians have it). I'm not sure if any others have it. Just becareful that there's enough extra colors for the computer to choose from.

Thanks Much.

I was able to handle this issue.

Just a few more quick questions to be clear.

1) I saved the changes as a .bic file in the scenario folder.

Is this correct?

2) To play a game with merely the color change, I need to "begin scenario" open the .bic file and then the color change will be in effect, but all other rules will be the same.

Correct? ( I didn't change anything else!)

3) There is no way to change the color of a CIV and have this work with a "new game" vs. a "new scenario".
Correct?

and Finally

4) within this .bic file I could change any rule I want and this will NOT effect the rules of a "new game" not utilizing the .bic.

Correct?

Thanks again for your help and to anyone that can help answer these clarifications.

I just don't want to screw up my basic game.

1. Yes, you can do that. That way the default rules do not change, and you have to choose load scenario.

2. Yup. The only rule changes that will exist will be the ones that you modified. Nothing else will change, and all you need to do is begin the scenario.

3. Yes. First, make sure you have a back-up copy of civ3mod.bic (name it civ3modbackup.bic, or something). Next, load civ3mod.bic in the editor. Now, modify the rules, and that will be the rules it will use to start a new game. To get the old rules back, either modify it back to how it was, or overwrite it with the back-up copy you made.

4. Nope. Only if you make changes to the civ3mod.bic will it have any affect on the new game. If you save it as a seperate scenario file, it will not affect the default rules.

I thank you sir.

I will give the back up a shot.

I am not afraid of that.........

Now I get it!
