Alright, let's start off with some specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i5 (2.27 GHz)
4 GB RAM
AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5650
I also attatched a dxdiag file, I guess you guys could use it.
My graphics drivers are updated.
So, basically. I install Civ 4, Bts, whatever. I click play in steam, nothing happens. A process appears in task manager for a few seconds (a bit longer if it's the first time since I installed it) and then dissapears. Launching the application directly gives "Problem checking steam application". I have tried contacting steam support, but they don't seem to know it either. Nothing helps. UAC on, UAC off, compatibility mode, installing only BTS, admin privileges...
Nothing happens. Nothing helps.
All I could find was this in init.log:
Googling about this error didn't get me any solutions either.
Patch 319 crashes after you start the installation, and 1.74 says it doesn't find a valid Civ 4 install and quits. The beyond the sword folder also has a bunch of .lnks that go to an unexisting folder.
Please, I really, REALLY want to play this game.
E: And sorry for making my first post a post asking for help, but the only other civ game I ever played was Revolution. That, and I can't seem to find a solution anywhere else.
