Alright, this is an idea I have had and have mentioned in previous posts.

Many of us out here can only look on and hope modders produce quality works due to a lack of modding skills, or time to learn. Pretty much the standard thing to mod is a civilization. Now a map editor already is in Civ, so why not add a civ editor?

It's a fairly simple concept, however I dont know how difficult it is to actually impliment. First, you click on "Create a Civilization" on the main menu in-game. Next, you type in the info, (Full Name, Short Form, Civ Adjective), for example:

Full Name: Sublime Aesustani Republic, Short Form: Aesustan, Civ Adjective: Aesustani

Now that obviously would be the name of your civ. Next, you have a large colour palette, or colour sliders, that becomes the colour of your borders.

From that, you move on to flag. You are shown a large selection of flag images to choose from, and then proceed to choose what you think best represents your civ.

Next, you are shown a group of leaderheads (or static images) to choose from to be your leader, and then you fill in the info like the name and traits (if those are still the same in civ5 is in civ4). For example:

Leader Name: Aesus, Trait 1: Imperialistic, Trait 2: Expansionist

And there could be, say, 2 leaders for your nation.

Next comes the unique unit and building (once again, assuming the same goes for civ5 as in civ4). You choose the unit from a list of all units in the game (excluding things like ICMBs and such). From here you name the unit and are given a selection of enhancements, along with several variations of the unit model and icon to make it stand out, and the same steps apply to the unique building. For example:

Unit Base: Swordsman, Rename: Aesustani Infantry, Enhancements: Starts with amphibious assault, Graphics Variation: (1-10)

Building Base: Forge, Rename: Aesustan Armory, Enhancements: Military units build 25% faster, Graphics Variation: (1-10)

Finally, there would be the optional section to include information about your civ, each leader, and both the unique unit and building to put in the civilopedia. For example:

Civ Info: The Sublime Aesustani Republic existed from 1000BC to 300BC as an ancient superpower. The tribes of the Aesustani Plains were united by a godlike man who went by the name of Aesus, hence the name of this empire and its beginnings. Aesustan ended up collapsing due to an overflow of awsomeness which some of it's enemies managed to get a hold of and use against the mighty empire.

All this could be in a smooth interface to help those "challenged" with the aspect of modding, and help everyone to customize their game in their own way, not having to rely on various modders (who still do an outstanding job) to enhance their gameplay. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Love that idea! You can kinda already do that, but this would work way better!

I wouldn't talk about getting a "Civ Creator" until we see what modding tools they supply us with. Who knows? Maybe they've got a more complicated, yet user-friendly, version of what you've come up with!
