Can we have a mode where every civ starts in the middle of the map, maybe joined with a warrior unit, and then
spreads out from there, or make a run for some boost in the middle with the risk of being murdered by eachother? Like the hunger games start. What do you think?

I've something releted in mind.
Remember Civ5 African scenario? There was an achievement to connect Capetown and Kair with railroad. I liked this idea so much that I decided to connect not only south and north edges of the continent but also west and east. And as my "Iron Cross" was born, most of my cities were founded along it. That is the whole point of my idea.
What we want to create:
  • scenario in which civs start at the edges of map with similar arrangement (similar to clover map but only "distance from the center" would be balanced)
  • starting cities arleady founded to prevent cheating
  • goal is to take control over one central plot; first civ to manage this would win the game; like "King of the Hill" variation of chess
  • cities can only be found when adjacent to player's territory
  • some useful events that will be used:
    • Great Merchant "grant plot" ability - works exactly as we want
    • culture bomb - should be avaliable for all civs and tied to:
      • encampments
      • forts
      • railroads - bomb should have range of "0" so it only absorbs the tile with railroad (and only when in connection with railroad that is arleady within borders)
As you can see the point is to MAKE CONTINUOUS PATH OF FRIENDLY TERRITORY BY EXTENDING EXISTING BORDERS TO RACE TO THE CENTER.

Run for the uranium!:run:

Maybe go the Master of Orion route and have a big bonanza of bonuses near the centre of the map guarded by a lost civilization with advanced weaponry.
