Civ I clone on PalmOS

I'm very interested in this! Unfortunately, my Palm Tungsten C is broken and sent to be repaired... waiting to get it back. This is the sort of stuff that keeps you going! :D

The next version of Pocket Civ is now available. Still the same basic game, but I added a GoTo command...

Woot! Nice work void :)

Just tried it, it's very cool! It will make life while traveling much more interesting and fun, thanks!:goodjob:

Hmm... I'm glad you enjoyed what you downloaded... but I don't think it was my game, cause there aren't any hits in my server log... ;)

I didn't want to over-promote by posting a link again, but I probably should, cause it's kind of buried further up the thread..., and is mixed in with other links (including of course the game World developed by the original poster!) Pocket Civ

I went to JavaCiv's World, :crazyeye: that's why, I didn't see your link. Now that I know I'll see how your's works. :)

Have you created random continents yet?

Good work by the way :)

No, it's just my take on the EARTH map. However, the French civ (your opponent) starts in a random location each time.

BTW Trada, thanks for nice comment! :)

I'm really excited about the new version I released today. Now in color!

It's kinda funny too, cause even though I wrote the game, it can be tough to beat sometimes. (At least right now, with the very simple rules.) I just finished a game where I went all the way into modern times thinking the stalemate might go on forever, but if I could just get across that land bridge into Africa, I could pummel them... well... in the 90's they swarmed in to my homeland and took over everything in a decade... I had one holdout city far away that lasted until 2017, when it went down in a sea of Catapults...

Any bug fixes? I couldn't move my units or attack/defend on your previous version with out it forcing me to do a soft reset on my Zire 72.

Is this game compatible with the old Palm PDA's ?

Yes! Well, depends on what you mean by old. Palm OS 3.1 is the cutoff. I originally wrote it for the Handspring Visor/Palm III/Palm Vx class of B&W PDA's. Anything after that should work...

Doh! For a time I had a faulty build of version 5 posted up there, looks like you got that one. (v5 is actually OK, but I changed the compilation parameters incorrectly just before posting it... ) Try version 6, if there are problems like this I definately want to know about it!

BTW I think only one person downloaded the tainted version. Looks like you were the one... sorry dude!

Hello Good People,

I've taken the time to post this contribution to the world of civ at Civilization Patisans Hideout. Pocket Civ is really good work and deserves kudos. Thanks for your efforts.

There are other free civ game links too that you might want to look at. Also, comments about CPH are always welcome.

Best to all,

Woweee! Void this really looks like it kicks butt!!! Thanks for adding the city screen so that you can change the city names and pick the units. This is a cool update. It looks fantastic in color by the way--great screenshots:

Everyone has got to download this for their Palm...what a treat! Void, you are truly the King of pocketciv :king:

I will add it to CivPartisan's news soon too!

Thanks Void!

The news for Pocket Civ is up here.

Other great stuff too...but Pocket Civ is probably the most exciting :)

Best to all,

Cool, I like the fonts + style of your announcement! I should point out though that "PalmPC" would probably confuse people, better to say just "Palm" or "Palm-powered device" or "Palm OS device" or something like that. (What a hard subject to talk about ;)) Thanks for taking such an interest!!

Oh BTW, I've been working hard on the next version for the past 2 weeks... some exciting stuff including new military units... will probably release this weekend.
