We play civ II sp now, but we are thinking about getting another computer.
Once we have another computer, if we purchased Civ II MPG
would we be able to play each other? Also would we need more than one copy
of Civ II MPG to play each other or is a cable between the computers all that is needed?

You can disc-jockey

BUT IN YOUR CASE...since you have a civ2 already you can use that in one computer and your new MPGE civ2 cd in the other (like I do when playing my brother at home over a serial cable).

First we do not know what you mean you said,

"You can disc-jockey"

Do you mean trading the Game CD back and forth depending on whose turn it is?

On the other note we did not know that the old Civ II SP would allow
play with the other computer with the Civ II MPG CD in it.
We want the computers to play in the same game as in online multiplayer games?
One of us would be the Sioux and the other would be Americans
and the (host?) computer would be the other five AI civs.

I believe she was refering to switching the CD between computers. I know that if you turn off the music and wonder movies and the such, you only need the CD to start the game.

Which is the other point she made. The CD check at the begining only checks for a Civ CD, any Civ CD (from what I have read).

Just make sure you can't see each others monitors, so no one peaks!

I would be very curious of your observations between the host and non-host player. Specifically, any benefits or shortfalls to being the host or non-host palyer. I know that when I played MP, the host received more of the status messages in the game and could see whose turn it was and therefore which computer players are interacting with the other human players.

Have fun and don't get mad at each other, it's just a game.
