my hard drive fried on me two weeks ago and i had another one put in under an extended warranty (1.4 gig P4 processor, 40 gig hard drive, 512 MB SDRAM, windows XP) and had to have it replaced along with EVERYTHING i had on it. well i got it back and i'm getting my computer set up like it was before and i'm still in the process of installing some stuff like my games.
well i installed civ III and conquests. i also downloaded the 1.29 patch for civ III. i went to play a conquests game....nothing! the monitor changed resolution for the game and then it went right back to its original resolution and didnt load the game. hmmm thats funny. maybe its the 1.29 patch causing it. so i uninstall C3C and civv III and then reinstall civ III by itself, no patches. then i tried to start a game....this time i'm getting an error message and it has to shut down the game. its the same error each time. it changes resolutions like it did before and then i get this error message and it shuts down.
civ III editor works just fine though.
WTH is going on here????
i installed another game and it works fine so i'm really stumped as to what the problem is.
any help would be deeply appreciated.
(i'm suspecting its a driver issue and i just need to do some major updating {which i am in the process of right now})
it WAS a driver issue. i updated my drivers...no problem now!
