Hi, this is my first post, I have no idea what to do. I have installed the game 3 times to no avail. When I install it, everything seems to go well, and it installs Civ IV and then Colonization. However no shortcuts are on my desktop and there is no record of it in my programs from the start button.

The worst part is I tried to find the .exe by searching for it, but when I open the folders for the extensions, there are NO FILES in them. There are only files for Colonization. All of the folders for Civ IV are empty...

HOWEVER, when I go to uninstall the game, it says it is 10.3 GB, meaning the files must be somewhere, right?

Help! I really want to play this game!

I just bought this same game and I am having the same issue. After opening the game folder from the start menu, there is only the icon for Colonization. I have been all over and inside out my laptop and the rest of the game is MIA.... Need help!!

are you running vista?

I am having the exact same problem. The folders do show up in the program x86 files. I was able to load BTS from there. However, when I went to apply the patches, it said "no version of Civ IV is installed on this machine" or something to that extent.

I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrated! I just want to play civ!

Also, after the install, if I click the play button it immediately takes me to Colonization with no option for the other games on the complete disk.

There are no icons on my desktop, or in the games folder and neither Fireaxis or 2k games shows up in the all programs list.

Help!

I've apparently got something like the same problem. I've got Vista Home Premium, with full admin rights, and no hidden files.

I was going to fix the MAF error in BTS, but when I went to cooy the exe files, they weren't there. All the Civ files that are accessible are in Apps, including the desktop shortcut, but most of the folders are empty, and do not include any of the exes. Like the poster above, the game shows up on Programs, but the files are all hidden. What kind of crazy load did this thing do?

Anybody got a clue on how to get access to this stuff?

Similar situation for me running Vista Home Premium except that I have none of the shortcuts in my Start menu. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling without success. When I look in Explorer, the BTS and Warloads folders are split off in a different directory from CivIV and Colonization...not sure if that's normal. Like the others, my BTS and Warloads folders are empty. When I go into the CivIV folder and click the .exe file, I can get CivIV to execute properly (I think...only tried a play or two). I just noticed that a second set of BTS and Warloads folders reside under the CivIV folder and these appear to be populated with files. When I click those .exe files, they also appear to work.

My suggestion (not thoroughly tested yet):
1) Find the actual game folders...for most people, they will be in C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete
2) In that folder, find the Civ4-MCE shortcut...copy and paste to your desktop. That will let you run CivIV.
3) Within the same folder, find the ...\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword folder. Within it, locate the Civ4BtS-MCE shortcut...copy and paste to the desktop. This will allow you to play BTS.
4) Within the folder ...\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Warlords, locate the Civ4Warlords-MCE shortcut...copy and paste to the desktop. This will allow you to play Warlords.

Still working on it myself but it looks like this is going to work.

:goodjob: Looks like I've found the files. One question: in which folder is the BTS exe? What's it labeled as? Apparently, to fix the MAF error, I have to copy it, but I don't know where look. :)
