civ iv installation

hi all,
I've bought 2 copies of the game and neither will install on my PC. My CD Rom doesn't even recognise the disc in the drive, it just clicks round a couple of times then dies and no files are visible in the d drive folder. Can anyone advise?

Is it the DVD version of the game?
What type of optical drives do you have? Can they read DVD's?

Run dxdiag (Star Menu > Run > type "dxdiag" > click "save all info" > post it here.

Civ IV will not run on your machine - it has on board graphics Intel 8 series. The game requires Hardware T&L support - ie a graphics card

Uh, the on-board graphics of the Intel 9xx chipsets actually supports shaders and T&L - it might not be great at it, but it does.
