Foreword: I have Windows 8
I just bought Civ IV from Steam today, and after it finished downloading, I tried to play. The grey loading pop-up came up (Init Audio, Init XML, Init Python, that one) and the screen flashed to black as the sounds of the game's loading screens popped up. However, the game immediately minimized to the desktop and the sounds became extremely choppy (one second of sound followed by half a second of nothing, like a really really laggy audio clip). When I try to click on the icon on the taskbar, the black screen pops up again for a couple seconds and then immediately minimizes again.
I've re-installed the game and rebooted my computer, so those issues are out of the way. My computer is also a very good computer that can play any other game, so whatever the issue is, it's with the way it's handling Civ. Does anybody know what the problem might be? Thanks tons!
