Civ no CD drive and on 7 Starter

I have a netbook which has infinitely better graphics and processing and ram than my PC. One drawback, no CD drive also has 7 starter OS. I used another computer on my network to map a drive on my computer with the installation cds in it. I installed but when I go to play it says nothing in the DVD drive. Also I uninstalled and retried but it says that my E: drive (The mapped one from another computer on the network) is a network drive, not so easily fooled then. Also I heard that OS 7 starter doesnt work with Civ 4. Can someone please answer one or both? Thankyou
