I've played a couple of Civ VI games so far and I must admit that I was already a little bit worried about the AI before playing it.
I play on Deity difficulty all the time and I can frankly say that Civ VI is way...way to easy. Civ V was a lot harder than Civ VI imho.
Having said that, I won't repeat what you can already read everywhere on this forum. We all know that the AI is incapable of any military strategy and once again Firaxis fixed that with huge starting bonuses. Most of us don't like it but that's the way it is...that doesn't mean the game is bad....quite the contrary as I still think this game has huge potential.
What I don't understand though is why some people are asking to bring back the stack of doom to help the AI. I don't know if you have played Civ 5 CPP mod created by Gazebo but the AI was a LOT better than Civ V BNW. There was no unescorted settler, the AI was actually pretty good at war...even at sea, and the AI was even making good trade offers. In fact, unless I'm mistaken but I think that the starting bonuses on Deity were almost reduced to none...
So when people say that it is impossible to make a great AI with the 1 UPT rule...this is completely false. Of course the AI can't compute all the possibilities every single turn but there are ways to make it seems like it is.
Another thing that could help the AI would be to give yield bonuses based on the current turn and remove the insane starting bonuses which in the end only helps us level up our army. I really don't understand why they keep giving all the bonuses at the beginning.
I really hope Gazebo will work on a Civ 6 CPP mod because unfortunately I don't think Firaxis will be interested in improving the AI soon....until then I will continue to enjoy beating the AI on deity without even trying but I must admit that it's not as fun as I thought it would....
