Firstly, I apologise that this isn't in the "Civ Ideas & Suggestions Not-Worth-Their-Own-Thread" area. I'm not scrolling through 745 replies though.

As a huge Civilisation fan, I am really enjoying the changes in Civ VI. It’s the little things that make a great game.

As a member of the community, I do have a few suggestions though.

Trade units now make roads – this is fantastic! However, it would be nice to see the stages of the roads. The first few turns of a path should be a trail, then track, path, dirt road eventually leading to a road. Each one of these should add +x amount of movement to the unit travelling along it.
Example: Trail gives +1 movement to units, track gives +2, path gives +3 and so on. This will make frequent routes more efficient as the player progresses.

Military units seem to be created from nothing. I think military units should subtract from the total population of a city, along with workers (builders) and settlers. I admit this is quite a controversial idea, and has no direct need, but I do think it would be nice. The problem with this idea is that tiles will need to be rethought, and the rate of which citizens are born will have to be increased. I notice as I play Civ, population is important, but I never prioritise it as much as I should, yet always have a top strong military.
Example: Different tiles and improvements can hold a certain amount of citizens instead of a set amount. Farms could hold 4 citizens, and produce +1 food each citizen, while a forest could hold 1 citizen, and produce +2 food each citizen. This sorts the tiles out and the need for a large population for any unit.

Harbour of Carthage (Wonder): Instead of giving straight benefits (Such as gold bonus, culture, etc), if Carthage isn’t included in Civ VI, the harbour should allow the builder to build the quinquereme and get +x gold per sea trade route. If Carthage is included, and their unique unit is the quinquereme, it should extend the range, give an extra trade route and give a cargo ship.

Olympia (Wonder): Mountain needed within a tile of the city. Should boost tourism when modern Olympics is held in city. Boosts happiness in ancient era. gives faith before industrial revolution, after, gives tourism.

Extra: Warring empires shouldn't have "borders" as such. The Civ should own secure land. Like when an enemy unit is occupying a tile, the city can't work that, but the enemy Civ should be able to build on it.

Olympics bid: Every now and then the Olympics should come around. The Civ's bid, and whoever wins gets a large tourism boost (Side note: Tourism should boost GDP - I personally hardly ever go for tourism)

Just these at the top of my head, but I'll be sure to add more later! Give an opinion. I'm aware these idea's aren't for everyone

(Also, hello. I'm new to Civ fanatics, although I do follow what's going on every now and then. Decided to make an account :) )
