I finally finished a game through the modern era. I have dropped many previous games in exploration or early modern due to boredom. I have to say that this edition of the game did not fix the late game issues of previous editions of the game. Even on deity the exploration and modern ages are just too easy, and thus very tedious to just next turn your way through to the end of the age. I'm going to take a pause from the game and probably when I come back to it just go back to ancient era runs. Too bad so much of the game feels fun to do but needs more challenge for the mid and late game.

Every game has been like this for me. I'm actually finishing games now even though I put most of modern on autopilot and don't care what happens. I played thousands of hours of 3 and 6 and I can count finished games of each on one hand. I would just play until I was certain I was going to win, then start a new game for that sweet antiquity action. I would absolutely love a civ game where the ages were Neolithic, Classical, and ending with the Middle Age.

Hopefully what was said in the video today is true, and the changes to food are going to make it harder.

I played Ben Franklin as Maurya/Bulgaria/France, and was researched a couple of levels of both future tech and future civic when I finished military victory at 1836, and I was at end point of all the other victory conditions as well. Might have won economic earlier but I kept sacking capitals, I had all cities on starting continent at the end, a revenge for all civs attacking me in antiquity era.

Bulgaria is awesome! Sounds like you need to turn up the difficulty.

This is on deity, how to turn up the difficulty more?

I wish I knew. You could stop using mementos. Maybe tomorrow's patch will make the game harder as they claim in the video. I hope so.

EDIT- oh yeah there's a pretty popular mod that claims to make the AI better. I haven't tried it myself though.

What legacy paths did you win in each age or is this Basically only modern matters? Just trying to see how others play. I play pn sovereign and typically go for dual legacies each age for each leader for the challenge.

I usually try to complete all but is not always possible. This game I was attacked heavily in the antiquities so even though I capped 3 cities including 2 capitals I was short on 1 or 2. Exploration I think I got 3 of 4, same with modern. I try to use only basic mementos.

You didn't ask me but I generally get every path on every age except culture in antiquity. Who can build that many wonders and still have a military on deity? If I'm doing really well I'll get two built so I can get a diplo point.
