civ2 behind a proxy server

Well,we're not getting ya much help here.I'll send it over to tech support.The techies may know

I need help. since my computer is connected to a server, I can´t play civ2 anymore. each time I try to connect to the host, I get an immediate error message. civ2 isn´t able to send even a ping to the inet through the proxy server.
how can I fix this? when I want to connect to the host I have to enter his ip. but there is no proxy-settings menu. so how can I explain the civ2 program, that I want a connection to the host through the proxy server?

those, who understand what I want to know : any ideas?
