Wasn't sure where I was supposed to post this one... But I decided to post it here because the scenario-creators and graphic artists hangs around in this forum.

Yesterday, I came up with an idea. A community for civilization scenario creators!

Every member should have:
*Presentation page
*Scenario and graphics showcase
*A guestbook
*A PM inbox

This would be a place for scenario creators to meet, cooperate with each other and exchanging graphics and ideas. Everything would be automated with the ASP language in which I posses much experience.

There should also be a forum included in the community, and some other things that I've currently forgotten.

So what do you think about this? I have the skills to make a good looking community with many functions, but it is hard work. So before I even start, I want to know if you guys are interested in a scenario-creation community.

EDIT: The members will also be able to write rewievs of each others scenarios and vote for the best scenarios and graphics. A top 10 graphics list and scenario list will also be included. These lists will show the most popular scenarios and the graphics with the highest scores.

Great idea... But I doubt it will work.

I think most people are happy enough as it is with their cozy little creation forums, reviews, tips and downloads here and on Apolyton, as well as the ScenarioLeague (a site that might comes closest to what you have in mind).

These are well-established communities, and people don't really like having to go somewhere else, especially for something this forum can already do with the CFC upload feature, this forum and the PM's.

Besides, civ2 is old, and no matter how everybody here will dislike it, the community is shrinking, not growing.

Unless you can convince the CFC/Apolyton admins to allow you to build your idea as an enhancement to either site, your idea is doomed...

Again, great idea, if you had thought of this 6 years ago, you would be a civ2 god by now... But alas... nevermind, forget about it, and use your skills for something more rewarding.

Everything of this just IMHO of course, and it's nothing personal. I'm just being realistic.
Even if you do get positive, enthusiastic responses, I doubt anything would get beyond the stage of planning (unless you think you can realise all of it by yourself, in a matter of weeks)...

Yeah, I thought about the age of the game in the first place, considering that it would be a problem. But hey, I didn't say I was going to build it, did I? I have some other projects going on for the moment. But I thought that it was a so good idea that I at least wanted to share the idea with you. We'll see if I will make one or not, but i doubt I will.

I'm afraid I mostly agree with Mercator... think the present fora pretty much fulfills my needs. For those carried-away types like me, still hanging in there, there is no hope.

They still believe that the world can be seen only truly through the civ2 engine. It's a safe refuge from a chaotic world, filled with habits and safety. They do it purely for the love of the thing, not for the hype of 'top tens', to be blunt.

Well said!
