I know this really should be in Problems and Help, but no-one looks in there and I need a bit of help!

I've just got a new PC but I lost my civ2 installation cd years ago. I took the hard drive off my old computer and hooked it up in my new pc (swapped the leads from the cd-r drive to the old hard drive) which let me access the hard drive so I copied the civ2 directory to my new PC. Only thing is when I try to run it it says "WinG Load Error 2"

Any hints? I'm running Windows Millennium Edition.

The civ2 is not only a bunch of files, it also is a note in registry. The only way you can try to do it is copy the notes about civ2 from the registry on your old hard drive to your registry on your new hard drive. I know it is possible, but never done it before, so good luck if you'll try to do it.

It's because since Win 98 there hasn't been a need for win G to be installed so it wasn't unfortunatly to play Civ it is, I can probably send you the Win G setup if you want, it's kinda big though I believe. (Normally Civ installs this itself.)

It worked straightaway after I installed WinG

CivII really scared me when I started playing though, it's like 100 times faster!!!
(my old pc was a 486 33mhz 16mb and the new one is PIII 800mhz 128mb

I think it has actually made me worse at the game though, at one point I thought hmm i'm doing well here, everything's coming together at the right time, no unhappiness and I don't need to rushbuild stuff, then I noticed the year, I was in the 1700's and i'd only just got railroad!!!
But it does seem a little less fun when I'm in the AD's in ten minutes....
