How do you start to colonize Alpha Centuri?

I sent a 100% success rate space ship there after 2 other civilizations already had (who had started to colonize it along with the existing 'treg' civilization) and then found the little arrow to switch between worlds once my spaceship had arrived but there were no units in this new world - any idea why that is or how I start to colonize it?

I tried creating space ports in my cities on earth but it said there was no friendly cities to send the colonizers to?

Help please guys!

You would've been better served posting this in the Civ2 General Discussions forum. I've never played the extended game, but I know that the 1.1 patch for ToT fixes such a problem. From the patch readme file:

2. We believe we have fixed the problem in the Extended Game in which arriving at Centaurus did not result in any Colonist units or the ability to research Ultrastring Theory.

Do you have the latest patch? Here's the link. You may have to start a new game for the fix to take effect.

I never have any problem getting to Alpha Centauri. That's where I prefer to start.
