Hi there,

I was wondering (if anyone is willing to help me out here), if someone with great knowledge on Civ2 Gold Scenario Creation could help me out here...

I'm trying to make a SCI-FI based scenario based off of one of my Role Plays I am involved in. I have included all the images I want, placed them in the proper places, edited the units, advances, etc. The only thing is, the squares are all messed up. The tiles are either half, 1/4, or 3/4 covered in this annoying grey triangle. You can hardly see the planets, ships, or space. IT proves difficult to play, and very unattractive. If anyone is willing, I would like to send them the scenario folder and it's contents, and let them go nuts (so to speak ;) ). I do not want any of the images changed, I would even be thankful for a simple explanation as to WHY it is doing this to me! If you are interested, please contact me at Shadow_Fox02@hotmail.com so I can send it over. The file size is 1.9MB, so I cannot send it through hotmail. I would however, be willing to send it through an instant messanger of some kind. I await your message, and thank you! ^^

The palette of cities.gif/bmp, terrain1.gif/bmp and terrain2.gif/bmp contains the same grey color twice.

One's transparent (index 255), the other isn't (index 16).
PSP (which you are probably using) has a habit of turning all the transparent grey into non-transparent grey. So suddenly all the supposedly transparent background showed up as well.

There are two ways to solve the problem:
(1) In the affected files, change the background grey color of the terrain tiles to magenta (palette index 253). That's a quick and easy solution, but you will also lose the diamond-shaped background as a guide (since everything's magenta now).

(2) You can edit the palette of these files and change the transparent grey color (palette index 255) to something else (e.g. the darker purple color used for transparency in the units.gif).
After you've done that, change all the grey that's supposed to be transparent to the new color.
If you would change the palette of the originals, PSP hasn't screwed anything up yet, so you won't need to adjust any colors afterwards.

So I just take say the magenta from the units file, and just use it on all the grey in the other files? I'll try that ASAP, thanks!

Ok! Cool! I did your suggestion two, and with a little added editing, it came out ALMOST perfect! The only problem I have, is there is a horizontal black line running right through the center of all my planets (IE tiles except ocean). It is an eye sore, and I don't know if it is a black line, or a transparent line. Any ideas?

NM! Figured it out! Thanks anyway! ^^ I'll possibly post it as one of the scenarios to download here...we'll see, I gotta run some tests on it first.
