[C3C] (WIP) Oh no, not another Operation Barbarossa scenario

On this inconspicuous date, I have decided to showcase a little scenario I have been working on over the years. It is a basic 100-turn conquest scenario, but I am trying to capture the memory of Panzer General II and the WW2 scenario from Civilization II (it is basically a Civ3 version of my Civ2 mod from 2002- or thereabout)

There will be only three playable factions, Axis, Allies and the USSR, with the Axis and USSR as the most interesting. Units are from PzG2 and the sounds are from both Civ2 and PzG2. Also, there will not be too many different units. I have tried to keep it simple.

Obvious disclaimer, the Wehrmacht was a horrid criminal enterprise and the awfulness of their crimes on the Eastern Front almost defies description.
 
I still have your old scenario Cimbris WW2 on my pc. It was an unbelievable massive work for a single Civ 3 modder, considering all those units extracted from Panzer General and reworked to fit for Civ 3 and the HOI1 tech icons fitting exactly for Civ 3. :hatsoff:

No, not yet.

I am currently playtesting the scenario’s difficulty, because I want it to be both challenging and fun: in my current game it is 1942, the Allies have landed in Sicily and while the Axis have captured Leningrad, the Russians have broken through to Minsk.


Anyway, this scenario will be pretty simple. It will feature less than a dozen different city improvements and a very simplified tech tree. There will be quite a few units, of course, but rarely will a Civ have more than one type of tank, fighter or bomber available for production at once (Il-2 upgrades to Il-2M3 etc.). That should help the AI factions.

Speaking of bombers, there will be no strategic bombers available. The AI simply doesn’t know how to use them. Instead, all bombers will be short-ranged tactical bombers, but without lethal bombardment. Strategic bombing is simulated in late game detrimental changes for the Axis player.
