Does anybody knows, what`s going on? On XP there wasn`t any problems with Civ2, as far as I remember.

Wouldn't it be because you're running a 64 bits version of Vista?

I think it`s about Vista in general. Vista itself has other windows management than XP, I think. That`s why when I try to TYPE something in a "resource seed" box in the editor, the program hangs up.

It simply cannot access the box. Same with a game: when I try, for example, to save a scenario, there appears a little box (window), which I can only disable. Otherwise, when I try to type something in, the game hangs up. Same problem with founding a city; when you take a settler and press "b", the "city name" box shows up.
You simply cannot type ANYTHING in these boxes.

I think it`s some minor Vista problem with arranging window boxes (different than in XP). But I`m not a programmer to investigate this.

Anyway, I read the forum and installing patches gave me nothing. Same with installing some DLLs.
That means I can`t play my favourite game.
Anybody knows, what`s going on? HELP!!!

Civ2 2.42 is a 16 bit dos game. 16 bit games don't run on 64 bit operating systems. It's too bad, because I like 2.42 the best.

Civ2-MGE will work with a patch. I don't remember where, but it is on this site.
