I voted for the Editor--along with five others. Imagine, the whole thirty of us that voted will really shake Macsoft up, eh?

Without the Editor, it is unlikely that you'll be able to play any PC mods which contain unique/or newly developed units. You won't be able to disable or change tech levels in order to halt technology and therefore ****** an era's progress. for example, a Lord of the Rings scenario, or an Age of Sail. With the so-called 'parity' it is likely that all you'll get is the ability to use other people's maps. That has been my experience so far.

Interesting poll, but I sure hope that we are neither representative of the interest out there, nor a 'valid' sample.

True, the editor will allow for a great deal.

I still stand by my vote for the editor first.

I've got two versions running on my machine right now, 1.21 and 1.17.

I had to use the hacked PC editor and run it on either my other half's speed demon, or on my NT Web server.

Both versions run the scenarios I've edited with no problems. I've also been able to run mods people have supplied here.

I even made modifications to KittenOfChaos's world.... toned the barbarians down just a hair, added the ability to irrigate on hills (I've seen far too much hillside terraced farming for that not to be an option in the game!)

Parity with the PC world? don't really need it. the editor would be very nice though, it beats trying to use Virtual PC, or switching to someone else's pc and editing scenarios, saving them, and transferring them to the Mac.

Hey Grey, remind me to be nice to you in the Forums. Sounds like you'd be a great resource. Any chance of you posting some mods when the Editor comes out?

Have you ever been able to run a mod with customised units on the Mac?

I too would vote for an editor over the latest PC patch... I am about played out on regular games, so the editor would allow me to take Civ3 to a different level, and get many more hours out of it, something I don't think the latest patch would do. But alas, the editor is still listed as alpha over at Westlake's status page... I don't think we'll ever get it.:(

We'll get the editor. We'd have gotten it long ago if the PC version wasn't getting patched all the time. What I want is the PTW expansion. No telling when that'll come, but I think it will. Not this year though.

Voted Option 1.

There are a lot more Mac Civ players out there that don't know about this poll -- I think that us "geeks" who surf gaming forums are disproportionately anxious to design our own scenarios. Meanwhile, the majority of Mac civvers just want to be able to share games with their PC friends, and can't do that without patch parity.

If the game was a bit closer to operational out of the box (i.e. if we'd originally gotten what we paid for!) then patch parity wouldn't be an issue at all.

It's only fair if we eventually get both, but at least enabling Mac Civ customers to play the mass GOTM and share games with the broader community should be the first priority, IMHO.
