I've mentioned this before but I'd like to say it again, those of you who'd like to start a professional CIV3 League I'd like you to post your comments here. If there are professionals in chess there can be professionals in CIV3 because it will be so much more complex. Even Magic the Gathering has its own professional league and it like CIV2 and imaginatively CIV3 has a certain amount of luck evolved. What I mean be this is the roll of the dice; in magic they draw a card in CIV the computer rolls a dice. It's the same function although CIV is still without a professional site or a professional league. If you are interested in making CIV3 a profession get up with me at johanfiveone@hotmail.com
I'm willing to make this game the chess of the future, because we all know it’s going to be capable of the taxation.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I agree we should work on making a dedicated tourney site and other things to make Civ more like Chess in that respect and I personally would join.

The babes! The life of debauchery! Flashbulbs popping in my eyes! Waking up in a hotel room in a city I don't remember arriving at! Throwing crap out the window in a drunken haze! Getting a tattoo of a spy unit doing it with a barbarian leader on my back! Marketing mousepads that say "goodbye_mr_bond" above the Nike swoosh!

You know, the usual.

As I have said in other threads, I am definitely interested in promoting the status of Civilization multiplaying. This certainly includes leagues, however, I believe the leagues won't be able to grow to the "professional league" status without a secure place where these games can be played. If we get a good sponsor for holding multiplayer games then we will be able to develop a format for fair tournaments where there is no worrying about cheating. The lack of something like this is a big reason that the Civilization leagues haven't been able to really take off and flourish. Unfortunately, unless we can all rally together and petition Firaxis to make sure they work out a deal with a company for a multiplayer server, we just have to cross or fingers and hope that they make this a priority.
