One thing that would be VERY nice if Civ3 did was add on bonus points for each turn prior to the end of the game you finish. Currently, you are even penalized on your score if you finish before 2050 (in general, since when you are about to win it is generally easier to keep your citizens happy, expand a bit further, etc). I'd like to see bonus points for each turn remaining--I think this would encourage people to win ASAP. Do you agree?

there is already point given if you finish early.

like on regent it'S 15 point for every 5 years i think.

i keep reading about this bonus for finishing early, but i've won twice with culture wins fairly early in the game and didn't notice any bonus helping my score

15 points for every 5 years is so minimal! I know I finished a game on Regent with about 40 years left (Space Race victory) and then replayed it and didn't launch until 10 years left and just focused on happiness...and guess which score was higher...by over 500 points? The one where I finished later! If there is any bonus at all, it should be added in AFTER the time-averaged score and should be significant.

True. In one game at about 1800 A.D. I was gaining 42 points/turn because I had recently tripled my territory. So all that new territory is averaged into all my previous turns. So if I would have won then I would only get like 300-500 points bonus. But by milking it, I surpass that score 10 turns later. I milked it until 2020 A.D. and got at least double the score I would have had by winning at 1800 A.D.

The current bonus applies to all victory conditions.

Bonus = (2050 - Date) * Difficulty

Difficulty is rated 1 thru 6 (Chieftain thru Deity).

The bonus needs to be changed to take into account map size, number of AI, and victory condition.

nice to see some stats. on this. :) How do map size and number of civs affect it??

The score is based primarily on territory, thus on a huge map you can grab alot more territory and have a bigger score. It's harder to win a quick game on a huge map, but you can claim more tiles (territory). Having 200+ cities (tons more citizens to help your score) is also possible on a huge map so that is a huge advantage over the smaller maps. So for someone who milks the game (purposely not winning too early), they can score very high on the larger maps.

With fewer computer opponents the more land you can claim very early on, so this will boost your score. I remember reading the first few posts on the HoF thread and someone had selected only 1 opponent on a tiny map. That was a real quick game and got a huge bonus, but 1 opponent isn't really that hard.
