Civ3 vs. EU2... Which is the best?

The 2 best strategy games of the year... Which do you think is the best?

Isn't Civilization III of the last year? Is it of this year? Strange, time for me seems to go faster that it really goes.

I haven't played EU2, but I am curious as to other people's likes/dislikes of it.

Never play it, must be a good game but no moderns wars that why don't want to test it.

If Civ3 wasnt moderns wars include, I don't think I was playing it today for sure.

Have EU ready to check out this weekend, with new patches.

As for Modern War, the problem with that and Civ 3 is no scenario building. You can't get to Modern War without going through an entire game, and IF the game isn't over by then, you have so many Modern units to deal with it gets daunting and tedious.

That's why Firaxis made a big mistake not including scenario building last November. Of course, their scheme may have always been to sell it to us separately half a year later.

EU2 by a mile, but only if you're interested in that period of history.

It's far more historically accurate, much more detailed, and is much more "strategic" (as opposed to just cranking out units and blowing everyone away).

But if you don't like the 1419-1819 time period, then it's certainly not for you

edit: Oh, and don't mean to spam, but they're coming out with 3 new games this year...Crusader Kings (1066-1419), Legion (Roman times), and Hearts of Iron (1936-1946). With the Civ3 editor and all these games coming out this summer, I'm gonna have a lot to do

Both are good games, and they both have serious flaws that hamper total enjoyment. The ai in EU2 is horrid compared to civ3, but the endgame is much more enjoyable since there is almost no micromanagement. The goals are completely different as well. I play civ3 for a challenge, EU2(winning is almost a foregone conclusion) I play to recreate history.

Go play on Very Hard, and get your BB over 35.

EuII is better because it has MP and scenarios.
Once the XP comes out civIII will probably catch up.
