Civ3Conqest Trail Version Install Prob

I downloaded the fully playable trail version of C3C from ign. and tried to install it. It said Civilization 3 is not install on my computer and tell me to try again after installing civ3. But I DO have original civ3 installed, and also play the world. Why is this happening?

Hi Dida,

It sounds like maybe C3Conquests couldn't find the Civ III directory. Check to see if Civ III is installed in your C Drive, Program Files directory. That's where it should be. If it is installed somewhere else you might have to point it to the directory. You also might try installing the latest Civ III patch which you can get at www.civ3.com. Then try to install C3Conquests Trial again.

ok, it worked. the problem with this demo is that it will automatically append the phase 'civilization 3' to whatever directory i pointed it to. So I pointed it to D:\Civ3, where my civ3 was installed, it actually tried to take me to D:\Civ3\Civlization 3, and hence the error "civ3 not installed".

I've played this demo and it sucked.
It looked like a unfinished product.
the screen at the bottom is totally messed up, i can't see the mini map and can't access the three bottons on left top of the screen(advisor, civpedia and game menu).
and it crashed on my like 3 times. (i played it for about 6 minutes)
how can they expect me to pay for something like this!

The downloadable trial version of Conquests has had some of its graphics files renamed or moved to different locations by ActiveMark/Trymedia /whoever and will only work properly with the downloadable trial version of Civ 3.

Have no idea why they would do this, seems from posts in other sections of this forum that quite a few people have been caught out by it.

Good thing they have a money back guarentee, I will be getting my money back. Doesn't look like there is anything we can do to get them to work together properly. Now have to wait for the stores in my area to get the game in. bleh

I have no such problems in the retail version.
