I assume that when you create a game, the system gets the rules (AI bonuses etc.) from civ3mod.bic, but after that it never uses civ3mod.bic in that game. So if you change civ3mod.bic it will affect all games created after that but not existing games. Is that correct?

Also, if I make a copy of civ3mod.bic (civ3mod.org), change civ3mod.bic and see what the effects are, then if I don't like them I can copy civ3mod.org to civ3mod.bic and have the default rules again? In other words, does changing civ3mod.bic have side effects (e. g. the system changes other files based on civ3mod.bic)?

if you change values in the bic file, it WILL have an affect on
excisting games!!!
i dont think it has on scenario based games, but i'm not
100% sure on this.
:)

When you start a new game, Civ3 will check if it is a scenario or a regular game. If it is a scenario then the bic (or the rules) are read from the specific file and these rules are saved together with you savegames. If it is a regular game, the rules will be read each time you load the savegame and they are taken from Civ3mod.bic. So, midifying Civ3mod.bic does have an effect on your savegames unless they are a scenario. :king:
