Hello, I have Vista x64 [64 bit], and my Civ4: BtS is crashing quite often with the following error:

"The exception unkown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x03e8b870.

Click on OK to terminate the program

I have all updates for Vista x64
I have all updates for BtS
I have the latest NVIDIA video drivers installed
Ive tried out all compatibility modes, none of those worked at all
I am using the latest version of the Fall from Heaven 2 mod

AFAIK Civ4: BtS is compatible with 64-bit VISTA...someone please help me solving this problem, since I cannot play with the game now..its always crashing.
Its like I make a custom game, and after a period I got that error message, and when I reload the game from that turn, its crashing again..

Welcome to CFC!!!

You should be able to play! - there are definitely people on this forum with Vista x64 who can play without errors. So don't fear - someone here will probably be able to help you!

Thanks guys!
Well, I have lot of games, and none of them had any problems like this so far, I am even able to run 5+ years old games without problems.
Ive reinstalled Civ 4 + BtS to the default directory, it was installed on a separate drive before where all my other games are. So far I had no errors, but Ive only played for 1 hour. If the error will appear again, what log should I post here?

Others have definitely had issues with trying to install CIV to a different hard drive. CIV always wants to create the folder structure My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/ in the same directory that your main OS is running from. If game files are somewhere else, it can definitely get confused!

It might be pain - and certainly bothersome to those of us who like to organized things a certain way - but I have found that it is generally a good idea to accept the default install locations for most all "big" software such as games and productivity applications. This is especially true for software that gets patched a lot like CIV!

Well now its installed to the default directory, and I got the error again. :(

"The exception unkown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x03e8b870"

What is event manager?

My game just crashed again 2 times in a row...

Ive found this:

Windows Logs/System:

1. Event ID 26
Application popup: Civ IV: Beyond The Sword: Civ4BeyondSword.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x041fb870.

Click on OK to terminate the program

2. Event ID 26
Application popup: Civ IV: Beyond The Sword: Civ4BeyondSword.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x041bb870.

I wasnt able to find other stuff in the event manager related to the BtS crashes..

Okay lads, I was searching on the net for hours, and finally managed to figure out what to do...some people had problems like these in other games with 64bit Vista. It can be solved by creating a new admin account and install the game from there. Very weird, but worked...
