civ4 crashes no mods

I don't have any mods but at random times while I'm playing the game shuts off with no dialog box. I have no mods and I already tried reinstalling. what should I do? HELP! It's a great game...

U probably read my post. I get very similar crashes as you, I don't know what to do. When does it happen?

It happens only while I'm playing the game but at random times. the leader pictures also have bugs and the wonder building movie's music also has bugs.

Are the crashes more frequent when playing larger maps, later eras? Do you crash after some time playing?

Post your specs: CPU, RAM, graphics card.

I don't really now about the maps because I allways use the huge map. It usually happens half way through the classical era but I save just before and load it. Then it happens later but I save and load etc. My specs: System Windows XP Media CEnter Edition, AMD athlon 64 processor 2.19 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM, I have plenty of space left on my hard drive.

Oh and I have ATI radeon 256 MB video card.

Assuming you're fully patched and your drivers are updated, try some of the tips I collected here:

It will not eliminate crashes, it might prolong your gameplay.

Why should that work? my specs more than match the recommended specs.

Black & White 2 takes more cpu speed and it works fine.

When I tried to install catalyst 4.12 it said I do not have the proper hardware
