Hey guys! I've had civ4 run fine and pretty fast for about a year now. However, a couple of days ago I dropped my laptop on the floor and my hard-drive crashed. Had to re-install Windows 7 and bought a new hard-drive. I was recommended an SSD and got myself this one:

I was told it was better than the one I had. Here are my original specs:

The only thing that's changed is the hard-drive. But now, Civ4 seems to lag and it's much slower than before even though my hard-drive should handle the game well...

Has anyone got an opinion on what I should do/have done wrong? I have the Steam version of the game.

Hoping for some good answers.

so your former hard drive is dead? It means you might not have DirectX, GPU driver (or something else - you get the picture) installed now.

Yeah, it's dead. How do I find out if I have a/the GPU driver? Sorry for asking such hopeless quistions...

just write "/your card name/ driver" into google (if you're not sure about the name go start -> right click computer -> properties -> in the left column there should be something like device manager or so (not sure about the name, i have non english version) -> new window should open and under graphic adapters you should see your graphic card exact name.)

also download latest DirectX if you don't have any :goodjob:
