According to deleted, there have been 1,402,533 hits to "Civilization 4" and 452,552 to "Civilization IV"... For someone who spend $65 to preorder the game, I'm somewhat peeved that almost two million people are already trying to pirate the game.

How do you know there trying to pirate the game? They could be looking for the demo. ;)

*cough* Yeah, I'm sure that is it.

You're right to be mad Scott, but it's really not all that much of a surprise.

I don't pirate games. Anymore. You can never get the patches to work, there's usually heaps of eye candy missing, and I'm no longer poor. Let the ones who do, do it though. That's my view, contentious as it may be. I hardly think it will make Firaxis go bust. I bet 95 percent of those who pirate wouldn't buy the game anyway. In the end it is they who miss out. I'll happily pay AU$80 for a game that works.

Yeah, especially with the new MP content. You'd really *REALLY* miss out on that.

I might pirate the game. But thats cus I cant even afford food atm, and I still want to play the game. BUT I WILL BUY IT EVENTUALLY.

Anyone think Im right in doing so, or is everyone against me doing it in my situation? IS it that black and white?

I don't mind piracy that leads to game buying. However, it doesn't take a genius to know that 99.9% of those people are pirating the game because they have no interest in buying it.

I'd imagine this thread will get locked. Piracy is probably a touchy subject, especially for any Firaxians who might be visiting.

I think most folks around CFC really frown on pirating. We've had a few pirates show up asking for help and they have had their head handed to them. :hammer:

Oh I'm sure it's more than just two million. Much more. Just think of all those gamers in China. Even worse, they pirate the games and sell them for money without paying a cent to the devs.

Software piracy is a huge issue. So much so that it has reach even a political level.

Moderator Action: Let's not even go there, much less post info from piracy sites themselves. Thread closed.

Moderator Action: We have zero tolerance on piracy.

If you want to discuss piracy in general, go to Off-Topic. I don't see a lot of value in continuing this discussion here - especially with people providing oblique suggestions on where it may be pirated from once its released.
