Happy Yule!
(mods, please sticky if you find the concept appealing)
This thread will be used to keep track of all the "Hall of Fame"-worthy Civ4 Succession Games that grace this forum. This is being done for two reasons:
1) Because it'll give those of us a central reference area when we're looking to review tactics.
2) Because it'll give those new to the forum a place to learn how the truly stellar succession games are handled.
Here are the Rules for Enshrinement (RFE):
1) The SG must have reached the Modern Era or have already ended before being enshrined. Note that a victory is not required for enshrinement. This is because some of the most instructive and compelling SGs have ended in a particularly painful defeat, and the HOF is to reward great play, not great victory.
2) The SG must receive THREE independent non-participant (i.e. you can't nominate a game you've played in; yes, this includes Open SGs) nominations. Nominations must include compelling reasons for inclusion. "THEY ROCKED!!!!1111" is not a compelling reason for inclusion. ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE PM'D TO ME, DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD.
3) There is no preference given by the HOF enshrinement committee (currently just me, but I'll accept volunteers to assist if it becomes overwhelming) as to the style of game. AW, OCC, variants, etc., can all be nominated, but try not to nominate every single OCC (for example) victory. Yes, the enshrinment committee understands that it's tough to win an OCC; however, if it's a "by-the-numbers" victory, it's probably not worthy. This thread becomes useless if every game comes in.
That being said, any game that receives three nominations will be included in the Hall of Fame; I'm not here to be a dictator of excellence, just a facilitator. In the rare case where I have serious doubts about a game's inclusion, I'll solicit advice before proceeding.
I would like to keep this thread clean except for honorees, so please PM me if you have any ideas, suggestions, nominations, etc.
Thanks
P.S. I'll probably add a nomination "form" sometime soon, keep an eye out for it.
