Civ5 will not run on Windows 11 after updating to version 24H2

When I started the game windows 11 started installing .Net3.5 but the game launched before the install was done.
I'm getting a .net 3.5 install error 0x80240021 when trying to launch Civ 5 on my new Win 11 laptop. Did yours work without actually instaling that? Wonder how I can bypass the install.

Install Nobara41, install Steam, install Civ V, forget W11...

I have problems playing civ3 on Nobara41, but IV, V and VI, no problems at all. Double OS. Steam can also use the same library shared with Win OS if you know what you are doing...

I just hit this wall on my new gaming laptop after updating the video card drivers, but on my older laptop, Civ V merely went through the install cycle when I launched it on Steam and then it worked all right. So, I'm reinstalling it on my new laptop to see if that does the trick.

Yep, that did it. Now it works again (DX 9, at least; I didn't try the other option).

I had the same problem, the game could not start on Win11. I asked Steam to check for the files integrity. Three corrupted files have been idfentified and automatically replaced by Steam. Now it works fine.

I wanted to play Civ V (the best Civ) on a gaming laptop I acquired and ran into an issue where the intro splashes would play, and then I'd see the 'Brave New World' screen pop up for a second, then it would crash/close. I tried everything that was listed anywhere I could find - compatibility mode, verifying file integrity, directx, VC++, codes, modes, etc. My fix: Delete the cloud folders (cache, saves, modsaves, et al).
