Is it possible to have some techs dependent upon acquisition of certain civics and vice-versa? This might solve the problem of civs entering new eras too quickly. Is there a way to do this via modifiers?
I would like to do this too. Make it so that matching eras in both trees need to be completed to move on to the next. The only connection that I can see at the moment is boosts.
An idea, although I haven't thought this through, would be to add prohibitively expensive techs at the end of each era that can only be unlocked by a boost from a civic at the end of the era or vice versa.
Yes it is. So Uncivilized Guys idea won't work... I've been noodling over this one as well and I've got a couple of ideas... just need to try them and see how badly I blow things up.
I would also really like to see this. My main concern is: what happens if you research all the techs currently unlocked by your civics or vise versa? Does your research per turn just get dumped until you get the prerequisite civic to research the next tech?
I would have a couple of routes to the next era... one that is locked to a required tech (or civic) and one longer one, that would not require a tech (or civic). In fact, I would try to set it that any locks would disappear upon a player moving on to the next era.
