Kudos to Eagle Games, they did an excellent job transferring Civ to the board game realm... the pieces are very nice and detailed, the board is beautiful, and the game systems are sounds. My friends and I had a blast.. highly recommended!

I played the old boardgame before Civ 1(computer) came out, is it the same game?

no this is the brand new board game, it just came out and is about 60$. a standard rules game takes an hour or two probably, also their are advanced rules which add in city improvements, people happiness etc, and it takes a bit longer.
its hard to say though, it depends how many players there are, and how fast you play. its certainly not as long as axis and allies or anything.
