Civilization III v1.16f Available!

after patching i noticed that the population number has been given some kind of weird black shadow, and it is very hard for me to read it, (not mentioning that the overall look and feel of that shadow is very ugly..)
how can i cancel this shadow??
thanx

Ugh,.... hit f6(the tech tree) then hit any of the other fkeys that do something... it will freeze/lock up your game :(( im 100% positive this comes from the new(and can I say ugly) numbers that represent the population

When i open a saved game, it starts loading but near the end it says IOData error - Error reading CNBL i think. The weird thing is the one saved game that works is the one with edited rules.

Hooray! Now I can really make those pesky Russians pay for what they've done to me in the game! To conquest and beyond! Civ 3 is the game!!!

But it was the one with edited rules. Maybe if other saved games are crashing its something to do with the Patch conflicting with the existing games rules.

Just crashed hitting F4 this time... Argh.

That's it. No more civ3 till someone tells me how to fix this or firaxis does it for me =/

I'm having no problem with the F-keys.

Ohh, yeah. I love little coincidences like this...

is it just me? or if you installed civ3 to a diff location other than the default and then apply patch it prompts you for the cd and doesnt work when u try to run it

it prompted me for the pathname of the non-standard installation directory and worked just fine.

With "pathname of the non-standard installation directory" you mean the folder I used when I installed the game, I guess? I mean the same folder in which the file Civilization3.exe is? I installed it in this directory, but it didn't work.

Why can't Firaxis publish some instructions with the patch? I don't want to become a high-tech geek just to make the patch work.

Well did work for me I have the Civ 3 directory installed elsewhere

Some other things
I had the CD in the CD reader when applying patch
I havent used the editor or any modpacks

I've repeated this several times and I'm definitely seeing a bug.

Load my saved game (no cheats, modpacks etc.) - Press F4 - shows diplomacy screen fine. Hit Esc to exit screen. Now F6 to see Advances screen - fine - hit Esc. Now F4 again - now lines showing relationships/trades - and no amount of toggling options will return them. Only workaround is to exit game and restart then reload saved game! Ooops!! :(

Edited: Uh-oh - its even worse than that. As noted above, if you hit F6 for advances, then hit other F keys to see other screens (without exiting the Advances screen) - it crashes. (I don't recall which key actually crashed it but I was just cycling thru them and on about the 5th one I hit - it crashed!

aargh.... safedisk is still giving problem.. i eventually dl'ed a crack for it, but it doesn't work now :(

and in case you start whining, i have the legal version..

wow, now I can actually go and play 3 of my games which are stuck one turn before flight.

Which one should I pick up first..... decision decision......

Could some1 please explain the problem with flight??

I never got that far!!

I'm downloading it now, but so far, has anyone discovered if SAM missile batteries and Coastal Fortresses work as intended with the patch? With saved game or new? With or without MODs?
