Civilization IV Install Problem!

hi, I'm new to the civilization series as I recently bought Civilization IV.

I then attempted to install the game and followed the directions on express install but it halted with an error just as I was about to finish

The error was a Feature transfer error
it occurred in data file 3 and was caused by an I/0 problem.

What do I do!?

try to copy all disc contents to a folder on your harddrive then run the setup.exe from there.

i get the same feature transfer error about half way through install of original civ 4 now i have win7. Never had a problem with game on xp. Have tried copying files to desktop get an error at the same spot in data2. Tried installing it in safe mode didnt work. Also tried putting it on my laptop with vista same feature error problem. Any ideas would be appreciated

These errors are usually due to a dirty damaged disc. As you have already tried copying the files and another PC, all that is really left is to try cleaning the disc. If that doesn't work I'm afraid it's a new disc. If it's a new disc you should be able to get it replaced. Some people have got Take2 to replace old discs, but the cost of postage etc is usually more than you can now buy Civ 4 for. Steam for example have an offer in the UK for today only for Civ 4 complete including Colonisation for less than £7! Other sites have had complete for $10, you just have to look around.
