Civilization players are smart and highly educated?

I think education can be overrated, I'd rather be average and work hard than a genius who sits on his butt all day.

I'm of the opposite opinion. Anyone can work hard and achieve results. But they're sacrificing their time/energy. A genius can achieve the same results while sacrificing less. Or he can sacrifice the same amount and achieve better results. I think working hard is overrated.

14, A honor roll- thanks civ!!!!

25 year degree in Drug addiction/12 year degree in Recovery from/Now going back to school to be an Alcohol Drug Counselor - most of my education came from the School of Life.
The hardest way to learn there is. Congratulations on your amazing success.

I'm much more dull: JD.

Geniuses tend to be monofocused, really good at one thing and hopeless in others. They also are more likely than average people to have problems with alcoholism, drug addiction, insanity and suicide. My late brother was doing research for NASA when he was sixteen and thought calculus books were light reading but he was also an abusive drinker and socially inept. I loved him very much and I miss him, he was killed when he was 34. It's why the first part of my username is Brother.

wrong thing to say - sorry no sense of humor on that - there is no answer in drugs and all it would do in this regard is make you a lousy player. not a flame - just don't want anyone making the same mistakes as me please notice the 12 years in recovery from drugs they are the best 12 years of my life.
I missed those facts when I first read your post. I apologize.

There *IS* no answer "IN" drugs, there is only yourself. A selfish moron on drugs is still a selfish moron.

12 Years general education. 8 Years advanced education. What matters most: 57 Years of real life experience.

Damn dude, you're 77!! That's old. (surely you can't count the first 20 years as both real life AND school experience?)

I have a MSc in Industrial Engineering. You can't get more Civilized than that folks!

graduated hs. tried the college thing for a few yrs, it bored me to tears. currently pulling in 35k as a support specialist. pretty good for 26 yrs old i think. maybe ill try the college thing in another 5-10 yrs.

Freshman in college, not sure what I want to major in (Sid Meier's Civilization isn't an option:sad: )

Graduated 2nd in class with a 99.56 in HS that I'm rather proud of though. Not that it really matters.

This is true for talents not geniuses. A genius focus on one matter only to see the connection to everything else. Hope you get me here.

Currently working on a PhD. Don't assume that highly educated = smart though. There are plenty of people out there who never thought about going to university that are smarter than many who did. Trust me, I've seen people who are "brilliant in their field" but are totally helpless outside of academia.

My anthropology professor is a great example of this, she is however easy on the eyes. :D

Bachelor of Industrial Engineenering here. I knew plenty of incredibly brilliant people in their own field at college but most had zero common sense. One of my roommates tried to do some of his laundry in a wok for heavens sake!

Can't wait for Civ IV to get here. It looks like it is going to be an excellent game.

BSc (hon) in Biochemistry
BA (hon) in Philosophy
dropped out of Msc in pharmacology because I became bored.

(but messing around in a lab and doing organic sysnthesis was rather fun)
