1. Is this the right thread to put this in?
2. How do you think that a movie or tv show based on Civ could work?

I think it should start with a bunch of apes screaming at a a big ominous dark rectangular cuboid. At one point one of said apes throws a bone into the air and the shot cuts and where there was a bone there's now a spaceship... in space. In this manner you convey the message that these apes were the ancestors of humans and we went through the entirety of human civilization and into the future in one single transition.

Then stuff happens and eventually humanity transcends... or something, not too sure. Nod to Alpha Centauri Transcendence Victory.

We call it "Sid Meier's a Space Odyssey".

:mischief:

It should obviously star Sean Bean. He then dies while everyone else is immortal.

It could end with a nod to the Nuclear Gandhi joke

Many movies relate to civilization already. Its difficult to imagine since there's so many documentaries that talk about civilization. A TV show might be more suitable because that can act about different civilizations and not just one like the movie. Either that and then they could make a sequel to it in the end that connects to a new movie where new civilizations take place like civilization 2, the sequel.

Puts on faux black beret, strokes goatee, and says in pretentious, indie movie producer tone: "Not everything needs a movie." :cooool:

No. But neither did the old '80's called-coordinate-based boardgame, "Battleship," either... :mischief:
Wait, that's a movie?
Monopoly, Yahtzee, and Scrabble waiting for their chance...

A trailer for a documentary based on JP Morgan has come out. It's title? Monopoly

For whatever reason, this made me think of heroquests in King of Dragon Pass, where the clan sends someone to reenact a myth in pursuit of a divine boon, largely at low odds facing personal injury and death. I was surprised by how the mechanic drew me in. In turn, heroquests seem related to the concepts of imitation of Christ and subsequently René Girard's mimetic desire. My sense is that many cultures also demarcate a dream realm, but the ones that come to mind have less to do directly with imitation in this line of thought.

How has Civ not tapped into this yet? I could definitely see the heroquest as a theatrical vehicle complete with an ensemble cast of other leaders, one that lends an epic scale to core game mechanics and mythical alignments of leaders. One can think of it as somewhat adjacent to last year's holiday card.

Oh, indeed, and inexplicably the pop star Rihanna was tapped to play a deck gun gunner in it. :p
WHAT IN THE DEVIL'S UNICORN CHEETO TONGUE?! THAT'S CRAZY!

oops.

At the risk of fantastical speculation, I venture that it would have been written and presented by Kenneth Clark, and broadcast by the BBC in 13 parts, from February to May of 1969

Nope, here's the official trailer. The whole movie's (claimed to be) on YouTube, too, but I think the TOS might have issues with linking a whole pirated movie, so there's this:

I don't know how it should started, but the end should be Gandhi destroying all world with nuclear bombs.
I would also enjoy a war between Alexander the Great and Shaka Zulu. Because this kind of anacronic conflicts is what is fun in this game.
