Hi Ive been playing civ 4 for 4 years now so i decided to buy civ 5 on steam so i download it and get a black screen and i found out that i need PS 3.0 Where as i have PS 2.0 so i wanted to ask the community if they were willing to make a patch to enable PS 2.0.

I don't think that is possible for the community.

just buy a PS3 card, I play this thing in a 9800GTX+ smoothly, and those are going for a few bucks as of now, so go for something like it. Easier than asking for the recoding of the shader model :)

This.

And seriously, if the card doesn't have Pixel Shader 3 support, then it's completely underpowered for the game. Such a card is then at minimum 5 or 6 years old, definitely 1 or 2 generations minimum behind the min specs. Buy a new one. 60€/$ and you're shortly behind min. specs, 80-90 and you should do relatively well (assuming the rest of the PC is able to handle the game).

It might be possible (see Oldblivion), and the x800 and upwards should be roughly on the performance level of a 2600, but those are indeed antiques these days :D

For ~50€/$ you will get a HD 4670/5550/5570 good enough for medium settings.
60€/$ will get you a HD4830/4850, which is literally "recommended" :)
And the GTX 460, which is apparently good enough for >30 fps @ 1920x1200 with everything maxed out, has almost come down to 100€/$ :crazyeye:
