Civilopedia errors

So I've found a few things in the Civilopedia that bother me. However, one of them just stuck out.

Read the description of Mechanized Infantry. It mentions that mechanized infantry was developed so that Infantry could keep pace with tanks. Not entirely correct, Infantry were put on trucks and APCs so they could be more mobile in general, not just to keep up with tanks.

It mentions that the job of infantry was to move in and secure area cleared out by the tanks. WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG, and anyone who has any basic grasp of military tactics knows that this is crap. Tanks are infantry support vehicles. Tanks move along with infantry to capture and hold territory, tanks acting as a strong armored fire platform, and infantry acting as the main assault/defense force. Tanks are WAY too vulnerable to too many things to be able to clear out areas alone.

/rant off. Such ridiculous errors in the civilopedia bother me. Yeah, it seems petty, but still, you'd think they would have researched it just a tad.

No, I dont think this particular entry is that far wrong (though some may be). Mechanized Infantry doctrine as we know it today arguable started with the German Panzer Divisions. In these divisions the job description of the panzer grenadier closely matched the Civilopedia entry.

Also some basic military tactics of that time differed from today. Tanks were used as the main attack ( Armoured Spearhead) while infantry would mop up, and hold the ground captured by the tanks. Now there are to many things that can kill a tank ( Gunships, Aircraft, Other tanks, Anti-Tank guns, Man portable missiles etc) to make this A viable and repeatable tactic.

Ahem, in short: The Civilopedia entry gives us information on how Mech. Infatry doctrine was originally envisioned and developed, but not how it has changed, so perhaps incomplete rather than wrong is a better term?

Except the German tank divisions still advanced along with infantry. You never saw a crapton of tanks blowing into an area without a few infantry with 'em.

Yes but the real slow and massive infanty divisons were quite a few steps behind.
