civIV slowing down dvdfab

Ok I use a program called dvdfab and it makes and copies movies at 10mbs. After installing it now makes\copies at 1.0mbs.
The only way to make the burner work at full speed again is to uninstall civ4 and then do a system restore to before the game was installed.
Steps I have taken per 2k...
1. patch the game
2. remove and reinstall dvdfab
3. remove and reinstall and then patch civ4

none have worked. so I get to play civ or make\burn movies.....
