While playing civ 2 yesterday on the WW2 scenario I realized that the reason that i kept getting global warming was because of the NUKES i used on just about (1.... 2... 3.. 4. 5... 6..) 18 cities! I never bother to clean up the pollution so I am figuring that the global warming is caused by this, my global warming has spread to 3 squares inland.... :'( well needless to say I had a starvation problem in all of my port cities. When I finally got the pollution cleaned up (all of it) I began to work on getting rid of the swamps, the FREAKING Russians nuked 6 of my cities, then left them there to die. Well I got mad and sent 4 nukes in their direction, the global warming started back up again, my people starved my mayors fled, my enemies rejoiced, my settlers were disbanded, and finally they went into civil arrest and over threw my government...... shortly after I re-established my government (this time as a Communism) the scenario ended...... Am i wrong thinking that the pollution causes it?

Yes, pollution causes global warming. There is a limit to how many pollution squares you can have for an extended period of time (I think it is sixish), and each solar plant you have increases that number by half a square. If you clean up your pollution promptly, however, you won't experiance global warming.
