What do you think will happen to Civs without obvious associated wonders

I was trying to find what the Zulu could use but I couldn’t find anything so I wanted to ask what you all think

Not sure if that will be the case. I assume they will want to find something for each civ. It might not always be "wonderous" but at least some emblematic structure. They could always use a Royal Kraal for the Zulu.

I'm not a big fan of associated wonders though, and this is one instance why.

If there is no associated wonder option available for a civ, I believe they could adopt a monument from a nearby culture. This has already happened in the game: Borobudur was not built by Majapahit but by another nearby Indonesian kingdom. It's also worth mentioning that Majapahit had its own options for associated wonders, but I believe Borobudur was chosen because it's more famous.

Great, now I can see Zulu's associated wonder being the Great Zimbabwe.

A perfect reason why the Pirate Republic won't make it in :) (hopefully)

I truly do not understand this bizarre hatred for ultimately optional content.

Edit: Also, I can see they giving some cultures an alternate bonus instead of an associated wonder. No associated wonder but maybe an additional civilian or military unit or something.

If they are in a scenario only, yes, I do consider that optional and I don't care if they are in or not.
If they are a part of any DLC or expansion as a civ in the main game, it is not optional content for me, I buy civ DLCs and expansions at launch always, and I'd prefer other things over something called "pirate republic."

I'd save Great Zimbabwe for Mutapa. The Zulu wonder might be Kwa-Bulawayo. But I still think that poorly documented civs or those that weren't major builders can get wonders from adjacent/related cultures.

It depends on the situation. If it were released by itself in it's own DLC it might not generate that much hate. If it's in a DLC paired with the Ottomans, then people would get mad that in order to have the Ottomans in the game you would also have to pay for the Pirate Republic. At least that's a similar situation that many people felt in Civ 6 considering in order to get Persia you had to get Macedon as well.
The Zulu wonder might be Kwa-Bulawayo
That's what I was originally thinking.

By the way, we might eventually see civs without associated wonders, making up for it with other bonuses. If we’re really getting the Pirate Republic, I think there’s a good chance the Huns will make a return. They have a strong media presence, after all, and I’m sure many players would love to play as them.

I can easily see them as a civ without an associated wonder or the ability to found cities beyond their capital, but making up for it with strong militaristic bonuses.

They obviously would get Attila's Camp as their associated wonder. :mischief:

Though in all honestly, I wouldn't mind it if the Huns didn't show up as playable. I think there are better Eurasian steppe civs to choose from like the Scythians again, or the Sarmatians. I'm sure as far as wonders go, they could at least get a Kurgan complex.
