Reverse engineering likely Civs based on “Associated Wonders.”

I'm not a super fan of the creator or the means by which it was created, but what could be more American than turning the face of a mountain into a statue?

On Native American sacred land, no less. I can't deny the logic in that argument.

A good way to make sure they never get the Lakota to consult them ever again.

These would be my guesses for the base game, based on wonders and assuming 14 per era (15 for Exploration because Shawnee DLC). Bold are fully confirmed civs, italics are pure guesses on my own part. This is what I think is likely, not what I think should be, so don't hate me for putting in "Polynesia" instead of Tonga or Hawaii (I think it's likely because we've seen both Tongan and Hawaiian elements in one shot and have my doubts that we'll get two Polynesian civs with the base game).

I roughly ordered them by possible succession and I used some blank spots to facilitate this, but civs being in the same line doesn't necessarily mean I think they will be "historic" successors ingame.

AncientExplorationModern
Goths - Mausoleum of Theodoric--Germany - Brandenburg Gate

Persia - Gate of All NationsAbbasids - House of WisdomOttomans
Egypt - PyramidsSonghai - Tomb of AskiaBuganda - Kasubi Tombs
Aksum - Great Stele--Ethiopia
My guesses for some:

Aztecs: Huey Teocalli
Portugal: Belem Tower
Byzantines: Hagia Sophia (I can see the Hippodrome of Constantinople as a good contender)
Edo Japan: Edo Castle
Great Britain: Big Ben (I don't think it's Oxford University)
Brazil: Cristo Redentor (maybe they'll go to Maracanã)
Siam: Wat Arun
Ottomans: Topkapı Palace
Ethiopia: Fasil Ghebbi

A good way to make sure they never get the Lakota to consult them ever again.
Is there any way to spin it to make it a Lakota wonder? :dunno:
If not, what would a possible Lakota wonder be?

Polynesia to Inca?

*Ow* *Ow* *Ow*

Please no! 😖

(Yes, I know there is some conjecture about contact because of the sweet potato and other things but I think it is still largely theoretical and wouldn't fit at all, IMHO.)

Hopefully, Nazca or one of the Andean precursor civilizations (Moche, Tiwanaku, Chimu, etc.) into Inca.

Edit: The Wari would be perfect, too.

Was the House of Wisdom ever seen

I saw that, and, to me, it could be the House of Wisdom (or the Round City of Baghdad, but the House of Wisdom seems to make more sense as a wonder)

As far as I know, there were several "Houses of Wisdom" during the Abbasid period. Therefore, a better name to specify the one in Baghdad would be Bayt al-Ḥikmah or Grand Library of Baghdad. But this illustration screams to me much more of the Round City of Baghdad than of the House of Wisdom of Baghdad.

Yeah, the devs also like to stick with the original name of the wonders. But my reasoning is that the House of Wisdom seems to make a better wonder in the game than the round city. Bayt al-Hikmah could provide bonuses towards Science and Culture, but what bonus came with a round city?

I think they could go for administrative or even scientific bonuses since the House of Wisdom was there. I believe it is Round City of Baghdad largely because of the walls surrounding the building, but who knows... Maybe it is the House of Wisdom taking the physical form of the Round City of Baghdad.

Its Red Square/Kremlin/St Basils all over again

The difference being that at least Red Square, the Moscow Kreml and St Basil's Sobor still exist, whereas not only does the House of Wisdom not exist, but we have no depictions or descriptions of it when it did, so any 'model' of it in the game is pure conjecture.

I know this is not about wonders, but, since this channel is about speculation about likely civs, what do you guys think of these Celtic looking units? Gauls/Celts will be in the game?
