CivStats.com - View your Pitboss games on the web

The ability for the game administrator to change civs that are registered incorrectly.

ie. someone registers the wrong leader/civ - unable to correct unless you start from scratch again (add the game new) ... believe me I've tried.

btw ... thank you very much for doing this project ... if it's any comfort I understand the game designers were / are very impressed with civstats.

If you are the game administrator, click on "Player Settings" and then tick the "Unregister" checkbox by the person you want to unregister. Click save, and presto!

If you are a player, go to "My Games" and click "Unregister" by the game you want to unregister. Presto!

We tried that Overload ... but when the players registered again (I presume correctly) the old setting was still there. The unregister didn't take is my bet.

On the subject of civ's, in my current BTS game the players are asking for me to set pw's to there civ's, but civstats doesn't support all the BTS civ's yet. Can I set the ones that are the same? What happens if I set a "wrong" civ as a place marker? Or should I wait until you have sorted this problem out?

CS

P.S. And thanks for your quick support for BTS

I'm not completely sure what you mean. The registration passwords are not related to the leader choice, so you should be able to set those no problem.

Under Player Settings(Admin tools) it lists all players and allows the Admin to set pw's and pick there civ. BTS civ's are not listed.

Hi Overlord.

I registed the game 10 Civs onto your server, but the password I thought I used doesn't seem to be correct and a bunch of the guys can't log in to register.
Can I retrieve the password somehow?

Thanks for the answer below!

The first password you entered during setup is only used for the uploader to upload data about your game. If your players are trying to register, they'll need the passwords you set for them individually, on the "Player Settings" page.

Simply go to your game page, click on "Player Settings" and you should be able to see all of the passwords you set. If they're blank, fill them in. A lot of people just use the same password for everyone and trust the players to register the correct civs.

Just wondering is there any resolution to Beyond The Sword not working properly yet?

I'm pretty sure what CS has mentioned here is valid ... unless anyone else out there has the new civs and civstats working ok?

As far as I can tell, the only problem is that you cannot select the new leaders from the menu. Just set them to "Unknown" for now. The most important features of Civstats will work just fine: Tracking who has finished their turns, and the new turn notification.

If something beyond that isn't working, please let me know.

Hi OverloadUT,

I moved our Pitboss server to a new computer and decided
to try your new uploader version (1.5.0.0).

But it did not work out well... We run a Warlords game and
I thought that the new one should work for all three versions
of Civ4 games?

We run game number 350, Rasbora, and there were two
bad effects. The uploader read the year as year zero,
but is is 1000 A.D. And the Score Graph went bad.
Please take a look on our civstats page:

http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=350

I went back to the older version and will use it now
(I could not find it on your download area, why not?)
with good effect.

Otherwise I very much like your project, thank you!

OverlordUT, have you seen any other reports of "CLOSE_WAIT" issues? My civstats seems to go through ports one after another, each time it posts to the website, and leaves each one in CLOSE_WAIT status. Eventually it runs out of ports, and my computer loses connectivity (after a week or so usually).

From what I've seen online, it looks like the program isn't acknowledging the final close command from the server when it does this. When I close civstats, my computer regains connectivity instantly.

Is there a fix for this in the works?

Here's my problem:

I run civstats 1.5.0.0
I click auto detect in the box
It find the correct game
I click activate and it begins parsing
As soon as it's done parsing I get a critical error:

the server returned a critical error:
Invalid Game ID or Password Supplied

What GameID are you using? Are you sure your password is set correctly?

snoopy369 - You may have just solved a problem that's been going on for a very long time! I'm looking in to this.

Are you playing Warlords with no turn timer? I think that's a combination I didn't explicitly check, so it's certainly possible that it's broken. I will check in to this soon.

I'm assuming if you reboot the ports return to their normal state?

Yes. It should get fixed if you close the uploader and just wait a while. I've received a few sporadic reports of the uploader causing people's machines to act funny after it's been running for a while, and this cause definitely fits the bill.

snoopy369 is exactly correct; I simply don't close the socket on the connections on upload. Very stupid of me. This will be the worst when the civstats server is down, as it will re-attempt the upload every 10 seconds I think, so a new socket gets created frequently. Normally, an upload only happens every 15 minutes, and that's probably enough time for the last socket to simply time out.

I've already fixed the code, but I want to get this Warlords problem fixed as well and then I'll upload the new version.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@civstats.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Dreamhost has been pretty unreliable this past week or two. If you continue to see that error in the next 48 hours, let me know.

CivStats Requests: (some of these are pie-in-the-sky but hey..)

(1) Ability to show/hide sections of the screen on an individual basis. For example I may not want to see the graphs and just want to see the table section and score section
(2) Ability to change layout (perhaps I want score first, then graph, then stats?)
(3) Ability to change background colors (I sometimes cannot see colors of some civs)
(4) Mail admin if uploader or game goes down
(5) Allow admins to constrain display for game (such as not showing scores)
(6) Show ADMINS only IP address player last logged in from
(7) Admin Message - Allow admins to enter messages that are displayed on the screen (messages to the player) Message only shown to players in the game
(8) Admin email - auto email everyone
(9) Small leader portraits can be displayed next to scores (and these can be turned on/off based on user preference)
(10) Upload (small) player picture displayed next to leader picture?
(11) Game-specific message boards?
(12) Column Sorting (such as based on who has done their turn and who has not)
(13) Customizable email notifications (admin can pick what information is displayed) that can be tailored to each user (it could show their current score, gold, etc.)
(14) Player specific page (lets them view more in-game data, out of the game) only they can access it

That's all I can come up with right now :)

Now if Firaxis would just allow admins to force-advance turns or force-end-turn for players it would make my day... waiting for a 24 hour turn timer to kick in to advance the game for people on vacation who have queued turns is a major pain :(
