Clearing Cache at Game Start

What XML file do I edit to clear cache at the start of the game? What line do I change?

Just hold shift once you have Civ 4 load screen start up. DOnt let go until it says "Init XML (uncached)"

Which brings us to the question: Why do we have to do so?

The cache apparently saves some configuration information, from what I understand. If you make a change in the config file, the game might not read the new file correctly, but use the old configuration file. So, clearing the cache is needed when there is a change made. At least, that's my understanding of it.

Mutax2003, I've looked through what files I can read and haven't found anything. I'll keep looking, maybe I'll get lucky.

Clearing cache will solve some MP connection problem, which I have at times when I try to connect Gamespy server.
