My Mom thinks most people who play Civ are reds, like me. So I decided to find out. You can take the test here: http://www.colorcode.com/personality_test/

If you don't have time to take the test, here are what the colors mean:

RED (Motive: POWER)—These are the power wielders. Power, the ability to move from point A to point B, and get things done is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of vision and leadership and generally are responsible, decisive, proactive and assertive.

BLUE (Motive: INTIMACY)—These are the do-gooders. Intimacy, connecting, creating quality relationships and having purpose is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of quality and service and are generally loyal, sincere, and thoughtful.

WHITE (Motive: PEACE)—These are the peacekeepers. Peace, or the absence of conflict, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of clarity and tolerance and are generally kind, adaptable, good-listeners.

YELLOW (Motive: Fun)—These are the fun lovers. Fun, or the joy of doing something just for the sake of doing it, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of enthusiasm and optimism and are generally charismatic, spontaneous, and sociable.

This, like many personality tests, seems overly simplistic--people are too complicated to be tucked into neat little colour-coded pigeon holes.

For example, I am, for the most part, a pacifist and a highly-organized facilitator in my personal and professional lives. In Civ, though, I'm a warmonger; it's where I get my ya-ya's out. :ar15:And as anyone who's followed an ALC game can tell you, my approach to playing can often be sloppy and sub-optimal. Colleagues and friends would not recognize me if they watched me playing Civ.

Ah but Sisi, I guessed to answer the poll (favourite colour=blue) and then took the test and found out I was blue.

The range of answers on this test are quite interesting; I agree that there needs to be a bigger range of possible outcomes but it is amazing sometimes how similar people are rather than how different.

I took a test of this type 10 or 12 years ago. I was the "Bluest person they ever saw."

At first I didn't recognize the motivations and initial characterizations, but now I see it.

Am I Blue!

I took the test in the book _The Color Code_. I scored about equally high on Blue and White, with much lower Red and Yellow. So which "radio button" do I click for the poll--it won't let me be both Blue and White! :)

I don't see any reason why red would be more common among civ players. I don't expect you'll find any correlation.

And I agree with Sisiutil, this test is far too simplistic for categorising "personalities". I reckon people who play civ are just the people who enjoy strategy games - people who enjoy critical thought, logical reasoning, analysis etc. The "power wielders" are IMO less likely to be playing games in the first place.;)

Also, unless the method for assigning the personality colour from the quiz is made clear, how are we to know the test doesn't just produce more red results in the first place, thus leading to a a similar proportion in the sample of civ players answering the poll?

In my case, there are several unanswerable questions - not one of their options fits me.

Of course, there is the fact that my primary motivation (knowledge) isn't reflected in any of their color choices.

I misclicked my vote... One should never vote on anything before having coffee.

Took the test and seems so far i am the only yellow.... :)

I'm fine with that. Allthough I am not always the most positive guy...
But in the game it sure is correct.
